Welcome to our next installment of “Back to the Future”, where we look at games of seasons past in Florida Panthers history in anticipation of next season and beyond. We will not be using any DeLoreans and our pieces will not be orchestrated by “Doc” Brown. For this series, the staff of Rats N’ Pucks will pick a random date that runs through any season in franchise history and we will look for box scores and highlight packages for games the Panthers have played on that date.
The Florida Panthers remained quiet for most of the day, in which the only free agent signings came as a benefit for the AHL’s Portland Pirates. When everyone was beginning to get ready for Day 2, Panthers GM Dale Tallon dropped a huge bombshell on the Panthers fanbase: RW Jimmy Hayes was traded to the Boston Bruins in exchange for RW Reilly Smith and Marc Savard’s contract.

The 2015 free agency period starts at Noon EST on Wednesday July 1st. It has been said to be one of the weakest free agent classes in recent memory.
