Former Panther Joe Nieuwendyk was announced as Special Consultant to the General Manager. He would be responsible for scouting, drafting and signing potential players, and player development.
April 27, 1996
Bill Lindsay scored the game-winning goal in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals with 4:57 left in the third period, leading to the Panthers first ever playoff series win with a 4-3 home win over the Boston Bruins. The Panthers won the series 4-1.

Goalie Roberto Luongo was announced as a finalist for the Vezina Trophy. During the 2003-2004 season, Luongo played 72 games (25 wins, 33 losses, and 14 ties), resulting in 7 shutouts, 172 goals against, 2,475 shots against, .931 save percentage, 2.43 goals against average, and 4,252 minutes played. Martin Brodeur of the New Jersey Devils won the Vezina Trophy that season.

LW Kristian Huselius was announced as a finalist for the Calder Memorial Trophy. He earned 214 votes (13.45% of the votes). During the 2001-2002 season, Huselius scored 23 goals, 22 assists, earning 45 points, -4 plus/minus, and 5.1 point shares (3.7 offensive point shares and 1.4 defensive point shares). Dany Heatley of the Atlanta Thrashers won the Calder Memorial Trophy that season.
